Masvingo
The Masvingo province is formerly called Victoria Province. Its provincial capital is Masvingo city, the oldest urban centre in the country. Masvingo province covers a total area of 56 566 square kilometers.
Masvingo Province
Masvingo province is located in the south eastern part of Zimbabwe, with its provincial capital, Masvingo City.
It borders Mozambique on the eastern side, South Africa on the south eastern border; Matabeleland South province to the south, Midlands province to the north and west; and Manicaland to the north east.
The province is home to several tourist attraction centres which include the Great Zimbabwe Monuments ( a United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) World Heritage Site from which Zimbabwe draws its name, located 25km from the city of Masvingo), the Gonarezhou National Park, Save Valley, Murirangwe and Bubiyana Conservancies, Lake Mutirikwi, Kyle National Park, Limpopo Transfontier Park, Lake Tokwe-Mukosi and several Ancient Cultural and Heritage sites such as Mapakoemhere.
Masvingo as a Tourist & Holiday Resort
Masvingo is the centre of one of Zimbabwe’s most concentrated tourist areas – a complex within which is offered, not only Great Zimbabwe but also Lake Mutirikwi, a National Park, a Recreational Park, game Sanctuary, a large variety of bird life and beautiful Lakeland scenery. Hotels, lodges, rest huts and other affordable accommodation are all available for the visitor
